Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia spoke at the VIII-th Abkhaz-Russian Business Forum.
The head of the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry noted in his welcoming speech: "Dear participants and guests of the Eighth Russian-Abkhaz Business Forum, dear friends!
Today we are opening the Eighth Session of the Russian-Abkhaz Business Forum. The regular meetings of officials and business representatives of our countries have already become an important and useful tradition.
This landmark discussion platform which discusses the main directions of the Russian-Abkhaz cooperation is primarily in the trade and economic sphere. There is an exchange of experience so important for our countries, concrete agreements are reached and plans for the future are outlined.
The strategic nature of the Russian-Abkhazian interstate relations opens for us wide opportunities for full-fledged development in all key areas.
The interaction in the international arena is one of the most important areas of cooperation between our countries. The foreign policy is an area where clearly defined interests of Abkhazia and Russia allow achieving the set goals. The Abkhaz-Russian relations are based on a solid legal foundation that began to form immediately after the Russian Federation recognized the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia in 2008. The cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia at the interregional level is one of the main directions of the bilateral Abkhaz-Russian cooperation. With more than thirty subjects of the Russian Federation, the Republic of Abkhazia signed the cooperation agreements, protocols of intentions as well as interdepartmental agreements.
The field of mutual interests in interregional interaction covers the most important areas for Abkhazia such as tourism and the agrarian sector. The humanitarian cooperation is actively developing joint social projects, youth programs are being implemented.
Abkhazia is striving to expand multifaceted cooperation with the Russian Federation in the foreign policy sphere. One example of our effective interaction is the Geneva Security Discussions in Transcaucasia at which the delegations of Russia, South Ossetia and Abkhazia act as allies and partners. The coordinated efforts of our foreign policy departments allow us step by step to move towards our goals and successfully reflect any attacks of our opponents.
Unfortunately, the politicized conclusions and assessments regarding the Republic of Abkhazia are unfortunately not only the officials of Georgia. Some of the western partners of Tbilisi are also keeping pace with them. The resolutions adopted by individual international institutions reproaching Abkhazia do not reflect the real situation in the country. Their goal is to create a negative image of Abkhazia. This is further evidence that there is no willingness to recognize the existing realities of these institutions / organizations. But without overcoming the still inertia in the approaches of the international organizations we consider it impossible to conduct any substantive conversation with them.
At the same time, the Republic of Abkhazia is open for communication with those countries and organizations that recognize the importance of equal, trustful communication and respect our aspirations. We do not close the country for visits by the representatives of European countries or international organizations. We have 10 representative offices of international organizations - such as UNDP, ICRC, UNHCR, Médecins Sans Frontières and others with whom we regularly interact. We are committed to an equal and mutually respectful dialogue. We are sure that only such an approach may promote mutual trust and development of international contacts. But it must be mutual not one-sided.
We are well aware of the opposition of our opponents to Tbilisi and his Western friends to the plans and aspirations of Abkhazia. We almost daily face cynical attempts to international isolation of our country with all sorts of restrictions and discrimination of the rights of citizens of Abkhazia. To do this any occasion is used, whether it is a newspaper outlet in the Abkhaz language, an Abkhaz dance group performance or the organization of an exhibition. With the submission of Georgia, our initiatives aimed at expanding the Abkhazian humanitarian presence abroad are being blocked.
Despite all external obstacles, Abkhazia will develop build relationships with its friends in different parts of the world; popularize its values and cultural wealth. We are making efforts to spread positive information about Abkhazia and increase the degree of citing of our country in foreign mass media. Abkhazia is increasingly attracting attention not only as a popular resort, but also as a country with a rich history, unique traditions and invaluable cultural heritage.
The strengthening of ties with other states that recognized the independence of Abkhazia is of great importance for us. The multilateral relations with states with which the Republic of Abkhazia has diplomatic relations are expanding: the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, the Republic of Nicaragua, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, the Republic of Vanuatu, the Republic of Nauru, the Republic of South Ossetia and Tuvalu.
Today the new contacts are being actively established in various regions of the world. We are looking for points of contact with those countries that may be of some interest to us. It is important to convey objective information about Abkhazia to a foreign addressee.
The Republic of Abkhazia has something to offer to the world.
The Russian-Abkhaz business forum is a great opportunity to show the world a huge potential for relations between the two union states - the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation. I have no doubt that this potential expressed in concrete agreements will only expand for the benefit of the peoples of our friendly countries. I wish to the participants of the forum a rich and successful work! "
The agreements on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Abkhazia and CCI of the Ivanovo region and on the supply of inert materials from Abkhazia to the Russian Federation were signed within the framework of the VIII-th Abkhaz-Russian Business Forum.
The VIII-th Abkhaz-Russian Business Forum which takes place in Sukhum on October 27 is devoted to issues of expanding and deepening cooperation in the field of tourism, entrepreneurship, tools for promoting trade, economic and interregional relations between Russia and Abkhazia.
Within the framework of the economic forum it is planned to hold four round tables, a regular meeting of the Russian-Abkhaz Business Council. Also within the forum will be the opening of an agro-industrial complex in the village of Kyndyg of the District of Ochamchira.
