Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia held the meeting with Garry Kupalba, the Head of the Official Representation of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic in Abkhazia timed to the 25-th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia. The meeting was also attended by Adgur Chegia, the Head of the Strategic Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia.
During the conversation Daur Kove emphasized the importance of this agreement in the history of interstate relations: "This historic step gave a new quality and substance to the relations between our fraternal countries and has created a solid base for the comprehensive development of interstate cooperation," he said.
At the meeting, the sides also exchanged views on the state of cooperation between Pridnestrovie and Abkhazia discussed the problems and prospects for the development of mutual relations.
The Treaty on Friendship and Cooperation between the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the Republic of Abkhazia was signed on January 22, 1993 by I.N. Smirnov, the first President of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and V.G. Ardzinba, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia.
