The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note of condolence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the 18th anniversary of the beginning of Georgia's armed aggression against the Republic of South Ossetia.

It is noted, in part:

"The courage, fortitude, and dedication of the people of South Ossetia, demonstrated during the war imposed by Georgia will forever remain an example of their unwavering will to defend their homeland, freedom, and right to a peaceful life."

It is with deep regret that we must note that, eighteen years later, the Georgian leadership has not abandoned its hostile policy toward our countries. On the contrary, attempts to isolate them internationally and restrict their opportunities for full participation in international contacts continue, which negatively impacts the enjoyment by the people of our countries of the fundamental rights and freedoms enshrined in the UN Charter and other generally recognized principles of international law.

We express confidence that, despite ongoing external pressure, the Republic of South Ossetia will continue consistently to strengthen its statehood, expand ties with the international community, and overcome artificial barriers with the support of its strategic ally, the Russian Federation, acting in the name of peace, stability, and the well-being of its citizens."
