On May 13, 2026, Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia took part in a scientific conference commemorating the 90-th anniversary of the birth of Georgy Alexandrovich Amichba, Professor a historian, specialist in the Caucasus, and ethnologist.

The event was attended by Hibla Amichba, Georgy Amichba's daughter, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Federal Republic of Germany.

At the conference, held at Abkhaz State University, Georgy Alexandrovich's colleagues and friends presented papers. They noted his high professionalism, dedication to his work, and outstanding contribution to the development of historiographic scholarship.
