On June 11, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, spoke at a roundtable discussion entitled "Geopolitical Processes in the South Caucasus and the Black Sea Macroregion: History and the Presebt" at Abkhazian State University (ASU).

The event was attended by government officials, members of the People's Assembly-Parliament, representatives of the scientific and expert community, public organizations, as well as military personnel from the 7th Russian Military Base and ASU faculty.

The discussion addressed current regional and international issues related to contemporary geopolitical processes in the South Caucasus and the Black Sea region.

In his speech, Oleg Bartsits gave a detailed overview of the current international and regional situation, noting the continuing influence of global geopolitical processes on the situation in the region.

The Foreign Minister particularly emphasized the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia, noting Georgia's destructive position.

He highlighted the Republic of Abkhazia's unwavering position in advocating for the signing of a legally binding agreement on the non-use of force between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of Georgia and the creation of reliable international security guarantees.

Oleg Bartsits noted that withdrawing from the Discussions format would be counterproductive. "This would mean one thing: the format will continue without us. Our problems and the realities in the region will be discussed, but only without our weighty say in this format," he said.

Speaking about the development of relations with the Russian Federation, Oleg Bartsits emphasized that Russia is a key strategic ally and partner for Abkhazia, cooperation which covers a wide range of areas, including coordinated foreign policy, security, socioeconomic development, humanitarian cooperation, education, healthcare, and cultural ties.

The Minister spoke about the Foreign Ministry's work in the Middle East and Latin America, aimed at strengthening relations with the Syrian Arab Republic, the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, and the Republic of Nicaragua, as well as efforts to expand contacts in Southeast Asia and Africa.

The roundtable participants noted the importance of further developing scientific and analytical cooperation and continuing expert exchanges on international relations, regional security, and contemporary geopolitical trends.
