On August 26, on the occasion of the official recognition of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia by the Russian Federation, a joint reception of the two fraternal Republics was held at the Official Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR.
Among those invited were the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria and the Bender City Council of People's Deputies, employees of the Government apparatus and other officials, as well as representatives of the media of the PMR.
The Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR Alexander Vataman, the Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the PMR Vitaly Yankovsky, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the PMR Alexander Stetsyuk addressed the audience.
Vitaly Yankovsky and Alexander Stetsyuk noted the importance and significance of the recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia by the Russian Federation for the fraternal Republics, as well as the enormous role of the Russian Federation in ensuring peace and security.
Alexander Vataman noted in his speech:
"Today marks 16 years since the recognition of the Republic of Abkhazia as a sovereign and independent state by the Russian Federation. The corresponding decree was signed on August 26, 2008 by the President of the Russian Federation D.A. Medvedev. This event was predetermined by the centuries-old struggle of the people of Abkhazia for freedom and independence and became the culmination of its national liberation movement, restoring historical justice.
The leadership of the Russian Federation made a fateful decision regarding Abkhazia, which guaranteed the preservation of peace and stability in the Republic, ensuring the security of the country and its citizens.August 26 is the day of international recognition. On this day in 2008, a powerful impetus was given to the establishment of the Abkhaz state in the world, its development and further recognition by other countries with which Abkhazia is now linked by official interstate relations."
The guests of the ceremonial event were invited to see an exhibition of children's drawings. The works presented participated in international drawing competitions held by the Official Representatives of Abkhazia and South Ossetia in the PMR.
During the reception, the organizers held a competition for the best knowledge of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. The winner received a prize from the heads of the Official Representatives.
The reception was held in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
