At the invitation of the Council of Young Diplomats under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia, the delegation of the Council of Young Diplomats under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia arrived in Tskhinval to take part in bilateral consultations that took place on November 26-27, 2024 in the South Ossetian capital.

Interaction within the framework of the activities of the youth councils of the two countries was discussed, and a thorough exchange of views on the most pressing issues of the regional and international agenda took place.

On November 26, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed "on the sidelines" of the consultations between the Abkhazian and South Ossetian youth diplomatic associations.

The document envisages the establishment and development of direct ties between the associations, exchange of experience, and consultations on matters of mutual interest.

“The signing of such a Memorandum of Cooperation at the level of young diplomats of Abkhazia and South Ossetia took place for the first time between our countries. We believe that this is an important event in the context of the steadily and successfully developing relations between Abkhazia and South Ossetia. This is further confirmation that the areas of cooperation between our states are constantly expanding,” said Astanda Pataraya, Chairperson of the Council of Young Diplomats under the MFA of Abkhazia.

A meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of South Ossetia A.M. Elbakiyev was held at the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in Tskhinval. The meeting took place in a traditionally warm and friendly atmosphere.

During the visit, the Abkhazian delegation also laid flowers at the chapel at the Memorial Cemetery in the courtyard of Tskhinval School No. 5, honoring the memory of the victims of the Georgian aggression against the people of South Ossetia in 1989 and 2008.

The South Ossetian side, emphasizing the special level of friendly relations between our countries, thanked their Abkhazian colleagues for the visit. The Abkhazian delegation, in turn, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome on the fraternal Ossetian land.
