On May 19, a meeting was held between Odyssey Bigvava, the Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation and concurrently to the Republic of Abkhazia at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the Russian Federation.
The meeting was also attended by Madina Zukhba, the Head of the Department of Latin America, Asia and Asia Pacific and Alisa Barzania, the Deputy Head of the Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia. Opening the meeting, the Ambassador conveyed words of greetings to the leadership of the Republic of Abkhazia represented by Badra Gunba,
President and sent congratulations to Oleg Bartsits on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Jesús Rafael Salazar Velásquez emphasized that he warmly remembers his visit to the Republic of Abkhazia in April
2025 to participate in the events dedicated to the inauguration of Badra Gunba, the President of Abkhazia.
Odyssey Bigvava thanked the Ambassador for the reception and confirmed the interest of the Republic of Abkhazia in further developing and strengthening of bilateral cooperation with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, highly appreciating the level of interstate cooperation.
"I note with satisfaction that since the recognition and establishment of diplomatic relations between our states, stable interstate cooperation has been observed. Our political dialogue is confidently developing. I highly value the allied and fraternal relations that have developed between our states. I am convinced that through joint efforts we will continue to develop bilateral full-scale cooperation and strategic interaction, filling it with new content. We are ready to fully facilitate the further development of the entire range of bilateral relations."
At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged memorable gifts. The meeting took place in a traditionally friendly and trusting atmosphere inherent in Abkhaz-Venezuelan relations.
