On December 12, 2025, a coordination meeting was held between Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits and Defense Minister Vladimir Anua at the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Participating of the meeting were: Deputy Foreign Minister Odissei Bigvava, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and First Deputy Defense Minister Vladimir Savchenko, Deputy Defense Minister and Head of the Logistics Department Nodar Avidzba, other high-ranking representatives of the Ministry of Defense, and heads of relevant departments of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting, matters related to the ongoing registration of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia who also hold Russian citizenship for military service in the Russian Federation were discussed, particularly citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia studying at various universities of Russia.

The sides discussed possible ways to resolve this issue, including within the framework of the Agreement on the Settlement of Dual Citizenship Issues between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.
