We are seriously concerned about the events taking place in the Republic of Kazakhstan in recent days. Protest actions that have grown into outright violence and pogroms have a devastating impact on the lives of citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Attempts to undermine the constitutional order, security and integrity of the state show characteristic signs of external interference. Armed formations trained and coordinated from outside are involved in illegal radical actions. This fact was stated by K.-Zh.K. Tokayev, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. On behalf of the Head of State, the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Kazakhstan are conducting a counter-terrorist operation aimed at ensuring of the safety of civilians, protecting vital critical infrastructure facilities.
On January 6, 2022, based on an appeal by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the CSTO Collective Security Council made a joint decision to send the CSTO Collective Peacekeeping Forces to the Republic of Kazakhstan for a limited period of time in order to stabilize the situation in the country.
We support the desire of the legitimate leadership of the Republic of Kazakhstan to restore law and order and ensure the safety of the country's citizens. We consider unacceptable the practice of illegal foreign interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states aimed at destabilizing the socio-political situation and the subsequent armed seizure of power by externally controlled groups.
We wish the people of Kazakhstan a speedy restoration of the rule of law throughout the state, as well as peace, well-being and prosperity.
