Today marks the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Republic of South Ossetia. This historic document, signed on September 19, 2005, in Tskhinval, enshrined the historical traditions of brotherhood, mutual assistance, and partnership between our peoples and states.
The Treaty became the legal basis for deepening bilateral relations, encompassing political, economic, and cultural aspects. Over the years, more than 40 agreements have been signed on its basis, regulating key areas of cooperation, including security, economics, education, and defense.
The signing of the Treaty in 2005 was a logical continuation of the shared destinies of the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, who together struggled for independence and international recognition.
We are confident that the further expansion of multifaceted cooperation and the consistent implementation of the agreements reached will serve to strengthen the well-being of the peoples of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
