On August 30, 2025, the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia visited the Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform of Syria, where a meeting was held with the Minister Amjad Badr.

The discussions were attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Culture Daur Kove, Minister of Economy Teimuraz Mikvabiia, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Iraklii Tuzhba, Vice-Rector of the Abkhazian State University (ASU) for International Relations and Economic Affairs Maxim Gvindzhiia, the Ambassador of Abkhazia to Syria Muhammad Ali and the Press Secretary of the Ministry of Culture Tamara Achba.

The Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform of Syria Amjad Badr told the Abkhazian side about the difficult conditions of agriculture, noting that the new Syrian authorities are making necessary efforts to develop all sectors of economy, including agriculture.

The Abkhazian delegation, for its part, expressed readiness to assist in exchanging experience in the agricultural sector, given its extensive experience in the agricultural sector.

The issues of trade and economic relations and cooperation in the field of education were also raised during the meeting. Vice-Rector Maxim Gvindzhiia emphasized that ASU has an agricultural engineering faculty, where students from Syria can receive specialized education.

Both sides expressed confidence in the need to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts to promote the agricultural sector and education.
