We have read the statement of Mayor Kakha Kaladze, the Secretary General of the ruling party "Georgian Dream - Democratic Georgia", Tbilisi that the Georgian authorities are proposing to Russia to take concrete measures after the words of Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister about their readiness to help in establishing of relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
In this regard, we declare the following:
We would like to remind Georgian politicians that Georgia itself should regulate relations with Russia. After all, as is known, there are currently no diplomatic relations between Georgia and Russia. Therefore, instead of speculating on false stereotypes about the "territorial integrity of Georgia" and other mythical terms in the election race, Georgian politicians should start by establishing of diplomatic relations with Russia.
As for the relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation, our states are strategic allies. The Abkhaz-Russian interstate relations are based on mutually beneficial interstate treaties and agreements, including those determining of the presence of a Russian military base in Abkhazia and joint protection of the state border of the Republic of Abkhazia.
As for the possibility of building some kind of relationship with the neighboring state of Georgia in the future, our position is unchanged. Georgia must recognize the Republic of Abkhazia as a sovereign and independent state and sign a legally binding document on the non-use of force.
