17 years ago, on September 9, 2008, diplomatic relations were established between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation. This momentous step created a legal basis for building relations of strategic alliance between our states.

Recognition of sovereignty became an act of restoring historical justice and opened a new chapter in relations between our countries. The establishment of diplomatic relations launched new opportunities for the development of multifaceted interaction. Over the past years, an extensive legal framework has been formed between Abkhazia and Russia, which has allowed cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres to reach a qualitatively new level.

For Abkhazia, the establishment of diplomatic relations with Russia is of particular importance. This decision has become an important basis for the international recognition of our state and a reliable guarantee of its security. We highly appreciate Russia's ongoing support, which makes a significant contribution to the development and strengthening of Abkhazia's sovereignty.

We are convinced that the existing system of interstate cooperation will continue to demonstrate its effectiveness, contributing to the further strengthening of relations of strategic alliance and partnership between our states.
