Commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia in connection with the statement of the European External Action Service
17 February 2025 160

We have drawn attention to the statement of the press secretary of the European External Action Service, which states that: "The European Union supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Georgia recognized by international law. With regard to the so-called presidential elections that took place in the occupied Georgian separatist region of Abkhazia on 15 February 2025, we recall that the European Union does not recognize the constitutional and legal framework in which they were held. The EU will continue to pursue a policy of non-recognition and engagement."

In this regard, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia states the following.

The predictable statement fits into the absolutely opportunistic policy of Brussels, which does not want to recognize the existing realities and blindly uses template clichés that have nothing to do with the truth.

Against the backdrop of the situation with the presidential elections in Romania, the question arises, to what extent can we trust European "democracy"?

We emphasize that such statements in no way influence the political processes in our country and are nothing more than an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.
