Statement by Inal Ardzinba, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia in connection with the Israeli missile aggression against the Syrian capital of Damascus, which occurred on January 20, 2024:
“Today a missile strike was carried out on a residential building in the immediate vicinity of the Embassy of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The lives of our diplomats, who selflessly carry out their work are under threat. Such actions, which run counter to international law and humanitarian values, destroy the foundations of international security and international relations. We categorically condemn them. Peace and sustainable development in the Syrian Arab Republic do not benefit everyone.
The collective West needs chaos and destabilization, wars and color revolutions. Their success is our suffering.
I express my support for our allies in the Syrian Arab Republic and hope for the speedy restoration of peace in brotherly Syria. Our condolences to those who have lost loved ones."
