On June 14, 2023, on the margins of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Inal Ardzinba, met with a delegation from the Republic of Nicaragua.
The Nicaraguan side was represented by: Adviser to the President on Investments, Trade and International Cooperation, Special Representative of the Republic of Nicaragua for Cooperation with Russia - Laureano Ortega Murillo, Minister of Finance and Public Credit, Chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Russian-Nicaraguan Commission - Ivan Acosta, General (retired), Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Nicaragua - Oscar Mojica, Minister of Health of the Republic of Nicaragua - Dr. Martha Reyes, Director of the Media of the Council for Communications and Civil Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua - Daniel Edmundo Ortega Murillo, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation and concurrently in the Republic of Abkhazia - Alba Azusena Torres.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the prospects for intensifying trade and economic cooperation and its financial and logistical support.
Special attention was paid to the activation and coordination of work in the field of information policy.
In addition, the parties outlined the need to form a union media holding Abkhazia-Nicaragua, which would defend the interests of multipolarity, reform of international law and counteract the destructive influence of Western NGOs. The head of the Nicaraguan delegation, Laureano Ortega, conveyed cordial greetings from the President of Nicaragua, Daniel Ortega, to the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Aslan Bzhania. Inal Ardzinba, in turn, also conveyed greetings from the President of the Republic of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhania to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua Daniel Ortega.
