On August 6, 2025, at the initiative of the Nicaraguan side, an online meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Nicaragua Waldrack Jaentschke, Advisor to the President of Nicaragua for the Promotion of Investment, Trade and International Cooperation Laureano Ortega Murillo, as well as representatives of business and banking circles of Nicaragua.

The Abkhazian side was represented by the Chairman of the National Bank Beslan Barateliia, Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Iraklii Tuzhba, Head of the Department for Interaction with International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Sariia Dzhopua, Head of the Department of the Middle East and Africa Artur Gaguliia, and representatives of business community.

Oleg Bartsits thanked the Nicaraguan side for the initiative to organize this meeting and noted that the Abkhazian side will do everything possible to promote cooperation with Nicaragua in the trade, economic, financial and IT spheres.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, for its part, will provide support in this direction.

The Minister thanked Laureano Ortega Murillo and other Nicaraguan colleagues for the meetings organized during the visit of the Abkhazian delegation to Nicaragua in July of this year.

"We highly appreciate this activity, the resource that was used to ensure that our communication in Managua was fruitful. I am confident that this and further meetings will have a great effect on mutual economic relations."

Nicaraguan Foreign Minister Valdrack Jaentschke thanked his Abkhazian counterpart for the meeting and noted the importance of active work and exchange of experience in the banking sector. He noted that this is a serious step in the relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, issues of interstate cooperation in the trade, economic and financial fields were discussed, in particular mechanisms that facilitate the development of trade and financial relations.

The prospects for the implementation of joint investment projects were discussed.

The meeting was an important step in strengthening economic ties between Abkhazia and Nicaragua.

The parties expressed their readiness to continue joint work aimed at implementing the planned initiatives, including possible investment projects and joint programs in the field of IT, trade and finance.
