On April 3, 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia hosted a meeting between the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Sergey Shamba and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia concurrently Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez.

The meeting was attended by the Head of the Department of Latin America, Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Madina Zukhba.

Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez arrived in Abkhazia to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba on April 2 this year.

Sergey Shamba thanked the Ambassador for his visit to Abkhazia and emphasized the importance of further development of Abkhazian-Venezuelan cooperation.

In his turn, Jesus Rafael Salazar Velasquez thanked Sergey Shamba for the reception and conveyed greetings from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela Ivan Gil Pinto. Sergey Shamba also conveyed words of greeting to his Venezuelan colleague.

During the meeting, the parties discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as a number of other matters of mutual interest.

At the end of the meeting, which was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, the parties exchanged memorable presents.
