On July 13, 2026, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, Oleg Bartsits, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Gladkov.

The parties discussed in detail current issues related to the further development of strategic relations between Abkhazia and Russia, which are currently at a historically high level. They expressed support for continuing intensive political dialogue and emphasized their commitment to constructive and productive work to implement the multifaceted set of objectives of the bilateral agenda.

A thorough "comparing of notes" on key areas of cooperation took place. The Abkhazian side noted that the Russian Federation is the Republic of Abkhazia's main strategic ally and partner, reliably protecting the country from military and political risks and creating conditions for its sustainable socioeconomic development. In this context, the important coordinating role of the Russian Presidential Administration, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and relevant Russian federal agencies, which provide additional impetus to bilateral cooperation, was emphasized.

The parties placed particular emphasis on expanding multifaceted cooperation in the humanitarian, cultural, and social fields. They acknowledged the high effectiveness of joint healthcare programs aimed at preserving the health of the nation and the younger generation, as well as the extensive opportunities for Abkhazian students to study at leading Russian universities. They reaffirmed their mutual commitment to strengthening interactions between the youth of the two countries.

Vyacheslav Gladkov thanked for the warm welcome, noting that strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of both countries is a key shared goal. He informed the Abkhazian side of the substantive consultations held in Moscow with the heads of the Russian ministries of education, health, culture, construction, and transport, reaffirming the Russian agencies' commitment to achieving concrete results for the benefit of the citizens of both countries.

At the end of the conversation, they expressed mutual confidence that consistent joint work will continue to deepen allied and partnership links, as well as effectively implement the most ambitious bilateral objectives.
