The work of the V-th Yalta International Economic Forum continues.
Daur Kove, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and Adgur Ardzinba, the Minister of Economy met with Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Syrian Arab Republic and Riad Haddad, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Russia. The Abkhaz-Syrian meetings have become traditional on the margins of the Yalta Forum on April 19,2019.
A number of issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed during the meeting which was held in a constructive manner, it was on the practical implementation of the signed agreements. The parties informed on the ratification by parliaments of the “Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Government of the Syrian Arab Republic in the field of trade promotion and economic cooperation”.
Daur Kove, the Foreign Minister congratulated the people of Syria on the Independence Day celebrated on April 17.
“Syria is actively developing and we can also be involved in this process, help our brothers in this important matter,” said the minister.
Mohammad Samer al-Khalil, the Syrian Minister of Economy and Trade highlighted the visit of Raul Khadzhimba, the President to Syria in September 2018 calling it a step towards strengthening the Syrian-Abkhaz relations.
“This visit was very important because it gave impetus to political and economic ties,” said the Minister of Economy and Trade of Syria. He also noted the participation of Abkhazia in the Damascus International Exhibition and the residence of the Abkhaz diaspora in Syria, which accelerates the process of promoting relations.
Riadd Haddad, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Syria to Russia said that “today in Syria we are opposing another war. We won on the military fields, destroyed terrorist groups, but, unfortunately the so-called “aggressive camp” is leading against our country a new kind of war - economic. It is necessary to strengthen our relations, whether it is in the area of trade, economy, in order to go forward and overcome all difficulties. We are confident that we will win this economic war as we won in the military fields.”
Adgur Ardzinba, the Minister of Economy of Abkhazia noted in particular that “our task is to create conditions for business so that it can interact. We tried to create these conditions and they were created. Further business for our businessmen ... ".
The meeting discussed the opening of the representative offices of Syria in Abkhazia and Abkhazia in Syria as well as the possibility of maritime traffic.
The delegations invited each other to visit their countries.
