Dress code
Dress code
A dress code refers to a certain form of dress form appropriate for a particular type of event. Conventionally, dress codes are divided into:
1. Strict,
2. Evening,
3. Business,
4. Everyday.
Each group includes several types. Each type is assigned designations that appear on the invitation letters. Today, the following types of dress code are used quite often: White Tie, Black Tie, Semiformal, Cocktail, Business Traditional, Casual.
White Tie (Ultra-formal) is a suit that is required for ceremonial events: royal receptions and balls, presidential receptions, honoring Nobel laureates, receiving ambassadors.
WT for men includes:
• Tailcoat pair;
• White, starched shirt;
• Vest of the same color with three buttons;
• Certainly a white "butterfly";
• Black lacquered oxfords;
• White scarf and gloves optional;
• Pocket mechanical watch of a respected brand.
WT for women is:
• Evening low-cut dress of maximum length;
• Shoes with high heels;
• Exquisite clutch;
• Long gloves;
• Jewelry.
BT - Black Tie
Examples of this dress code can be seen in theater boxes during premieres, at the Oscars, on the red carpet of film festivals - the official and solemn, but more common, generally accepted dress code for official evening social events.
BT for men:
• Classic cut black trousers;
• Black or white jacket;
• Vest or cummerbund (wide belt, the color of which matches the bow tie);
• A white shirt with a stand-up collar, the corners of which are bent;
• Dark shoes made of matte leather, preferably oxfords;
• Black bow tie;
• Strict cufflinks.
BT for women:
• Maxi or cocktail dress;
• Shoes with heels;
• Jewelry;
There is another, less strict version of this type of dress code - Black Tie Invited. A black tuxedo is worn at the request of the guest. Cocktail dresses are allowed for women.
Semiformal - semi-formal, discreet style for daytime business lunches. Dress code until 18:00. For men - light suits and jumpers. For women - light dresses and trouser suits.
Cocktail Attire is announced at evening social receptions, where there is no solemn part. Men wear a dark suit with a tie, and a handkerchief in a jacket pocket is also appropriate. Women choose dresses no higher than the knee and evening shoes.
At negotiations with foreign partners or important business meetings, a Btr (Business Traditional) dress code can be established. For men, a classic plain or combined suit is provided, for women - a fitted trouser suit or a sheath dress with a jacket.
Casual is a casual look that is not limited by any rules and prohibitions. This type is intended for informal events.
