At the invitation of the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Zaur Gvadzhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela participated in the celebrations marking the 216-th anniversary of the country's declaration of independence.
The celebrations began in Bolivar Square in Caracas with a ceremonial flower-laying ceremony led by the Mayor of Caracas, Admiral of the Navy Carmen Melendez.
Following the flower-laying ceremony, the invited guests moved to the Municipal Council. Speeches were delivered in the historic Santa Rosa Chapel in honor of the heroes who changed the fate of the American continent.
The current celebrations are taking place in parallel with a large-scale civic action — the Great Pilgrimage "United for Venezuela Without Sanctions and in Peace." This initiative has already spread throughout the country. The marchers are expected to arrive in Caracas by May 1, where a large-scale act of solidarity and spiritual unity will take place, concluding the cycle of commemorative events.
Representatives of national authorities and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Venezuela participated in the official ceremonies.
