On March 16, 2026, Zaur Gvadzhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, took part in a ceremony commemorating the 81st anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Venezuela at the invitation of Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation.

Venezuela's Foreign Minister Iván Gil and Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, Russian Ambassador to Caracas, laid wreaths at the sarcophagus of the Liberator Simón Bolívar in the National Pantheon.

"Eighty-one years later, we see a complex world full of challenges that can only be overcome through cooperation and adherence to the UN Charter. Russia and Venezuela are two fraternal nations and strategic partners. We stand united in defense of the UN Charter within the Group of Friends and consistently advocate for the construction of a multicentric and multipolar world. Our joint work will continue," the Venezuelan Foreign Minister emphasized.

Iván Gil and Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov reaffirmed the steadfast bonds of friendship and long-term cooperation between the two countries.

Zaur Gvadzhava congratulated Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov on this memorable date, emphasizing the particular significance of this historic milestone.

The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions and ambassadors accredited to Venezuela, representatives of the Foreign Ministry, and media representatives.
