On April 16, 2025, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic Alexander Vataman took part in the funeral ceremony of the burial of the remains of an unknown soldier, a participant in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, presumably perished in 1944.

The President of Pridnestrovie Vadim Krasnoselsky, military personnel, and public figures took part in the funeral ceremony, which was held with military honors.

Answering a question from a journalist from the “Dnestrovskaya Pravda” newspaper, Alexander Vataman noted: “I came today to pay tribute to the memory of historical truth. To bow my head and lay fresh flowers in memory of those who did not return from the war, of veterans who passed away after the war. Today, a very important event took place to preserve our inseparable connection with the events of the Great Patriotic War, with the history of the Great Victory. This is twice as important now, when the feat of all those who brought the Victory over fascism closer is actually being leveled in many countries, history is being rewritten.

In the Russian Federation, in the Republic of Abkhazia, in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, history is preserved and the memory of those who defeated Nazism is true. For the sake of liberating the Motherland, the peoples of the USSR in one line went through grief, suffering, death at the front and in the rear, having won a truly Great Victory."
