At the invitation of the Joint Organizing Committee for the Memory of the Victory over Japan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Russian Federation Alkhas Kvitsiniia took part in a ceremonial event in the Column Hall of the House of Unions dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II.

The event was also attended by senators of the Federation Council, deputies of the State Duma, representatives of federal and regional government bodies, heads of scientific centers, public organizations, foreign ambassadors representing countries that participated in repelling Japanese aggression and defeating militaristic Japan.

In a solemn atmosphere on the stage of the Column Hall, member of the Joint Organizing Committee Jan Burlyai presented the Ambassador of Abkhazia to Russia Alkhas Kvitsiniia with a commemorative medal "80 Years of Victory over Japan".

In his welcoming speech, Alkhas Kvitsiniia congratulated those gathered on the significant date, noting that "victory is the main thing in any war," and expressed hope that in this year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory, the Russian Federation will celebrate another Victory in the SMO zone.

Earlier today, representatives of the Embassy of Abkhazia in Russia took part in a memorial ceremony dedicated to the Day of Military Glory of Russia - the Day of Victory over militarist Japan and the end of World War II. A ceremony of laying flowers at the Victory Parade high relief was held on Manezhnaya Square, and welcoming speeches were made by representatives of federal government bodies, MPs, and public figures.
