The Official Representation of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR hosted a meeting between Alexander Vataman, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie and Vitaly Yankovsky, the Head of the Official Representation of the Republic of South Ossetia in the PMR.

Alexander Vataman congratulated Vitaly Yankovsky on the Day of the Diplomatic Worker of South Ossetia and the Day of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of South Ossetia, wishing the South Ossetian diplomat new successes, and the Republic of South Ossetia peace and prosperity.

A separate topic for discussion during the conversation was the events associated with the date of May 29.

May 29 is International Peacekeeper Day. The diplomats noted that the role of peacekeepers in establishing and maintaining of peace and stability in Abkhazia and South Ossetia cannot be overestimated. Peacekeepers fulfilled their sacred duty to protect the Republics with honor and valor.

On May 29, 2011, Sergey Vasilyevich Bagapsh, the Second President of the Republic of Abkhazia died. Aleksandr Vataman and Vitaliy Yankovskiy were in the city of Sukhum that day and were able to say goodbye and pay tribute to this bright politician, patriot of Apsny and authoritative head of the Republic of Abkhazia in modern history. Today, at the meeting, the diplomats shared their memories of Sergey Vasilyevich Bagapsh.
