On January 14 this year, a working meeting was held in the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic between Alexander Korshunov, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the PMR and Alexander Vataman, the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia in the PMR.

The main topic of the meeting was the upcoming presidential elections in the Republic of Abkhazia on February 15, 2025 Alexander Vataman conveyed to Alexander Korshunov an invitation from Lasha Ashuba, the Speaker of the People's Assembly - Parliament of the Republic of Abkhazia to take part in observing of the elections of the President of the Republic of Abkhazia. 

The participants of the meeting paid attention to the situation in Transnistria and Abkhazia that developed at the beginning of 2025 Alexander Vataman stated: "In Abkhazia, they know and perfectly understand the essence of the reasons that led to a serious energy crisis in Transnistria. The Abkhaz leadership and Abkhaz society fully support of the actions of the leaders of Pridnestrovia, the Government and the Supreme Council of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. In Abkhazia, every resident sincerely wishes the Pridnestrovians to go through these trials as soon as possible and return to the life that the hard-working, peaceful and friendly people of Pridnestrovie truly deserve." 

Also during the meeting, Alexander Vataman and Alexander Korshunov discussed a number of issues of interaction between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie in current areas.
