On June 9, 2026, a meeting was held in Ankara between the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Republic of Turkey, Ibrahim Avidzba, the President of the Federation of Abkhazian Cultural Centers in Turkey, Yauz Atryshba, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkey, Sergey Vershinin.

Issues of developing relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation were discussed during the meeting.

The parties raised the matter of repatriation of compatriots, particularly the support of citizens at various stages of document processing and the development of effective interagency cooperation.

The meeting participants also exchanged views on the implementation of joint cultural initiatives aimed at strengthening connections between peoples and preserving national identity.

It was noted that cooperation between the Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Abkhazian Diaspora in Turkey, and the Russian Embassy will continue.
