Muhammad Ali, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Syrian Arab Republic discussed with Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Syrian Arab Republic the relationship of scientific research cooperation between the two countries and the importance of signing a cooperation agreement between the Abkhaz State University and the University of Damascus.

The Ambassador of Abkhazia noted that for the second year in a row, the Republic of Abkhazia has been accepting students from the Syrian Arab Republic to study at the Abkhaz State University and in the next 2025-2026 academic year, work is underway to accept another group of students.

Muhammad Ali, Ambassador also emphasized the depth of historical relations between the Abkhaz and Syrian peoples and noted that the government of the Republic of Abkhazia attaches great importance to strengthening of relations and cooperation with Syria in various fields.

In turn, Dr. Marwan Al-Halabi, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research emphasized the desire of the Ministry of Higher Education of the Syrian Arab Republic to strengthen cooperation relations with friends in Abkhazia in scientific fields, paying special attention to scholarships, academic exchanges and the development of scientific potential.

The Minister also noted that there are a number of challenges that we are trying to solve with a plan to implement most of the existing tasks so that the next stage of development of the higher education sector is full of real achievements.
