On October 18, 2024, Zaur Gvadzhava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela participated in the forum "BRICS: «A Multipolar World Under Construction» at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela.

The event was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela under the chairmanship of Ivan Gil Pinto, the Minister of Foreign Affairs. It was attended by ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Venezuela, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, the media and other guests.

In his speech, Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov, the Russian Ambassador to Venezuela in particular, emphasized the importance of the XVI BRICS summit which will be held from October 22 to 24 in Russia. He noted that this will expand interaction with countries that share common values.

Gilvana Maria de Oliveira, the Brazilian Ambassador reiterated her country's rejection of the sanctions imposed on Venezuela and other members of the international group by the great, far-right powers. "We do not recognize the legitimacy of these coercive and unilateral measures," de Oliveira explained.

Ivan Gil, Venezuela's Foreign Minister reiterated Venezuela's willingness to join the efforts to build a new world order through BRICS, a bloc of developing countries that Venezuela is seeking to join as a full member at the upcoming summit in Kazan.

The Venezuelan foreign minister also rejected the West's pressure policy, saying that it is aimed at dominating and economically enslaving of developing countries.
