On December 11, 2024 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela Zaur Gvadzhava, at the invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, took part in the ceremony dedicated to the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Ayacucho.
The ceremony took place at the Monumental Square Paseo de Los Proceres in the presence of the executive office of Venezuela and the diplomatic corps accredited in the country.
The ceremony was headed by the President of Venezuela, Commander-in-Chief Nicolas Maduro Moros.
In his speech, President Maduro emphasized the relevance of the current struggle of the Venezuelan people with the same intensity and purpose as the liberators who fought for independence 200 years ago. He called for unity and the creation of a dignified, educated and sovereign Venezuela.
As part of the event, Nicolás Maduro awarded a number of Venezuelan politicians, military and writers with the Order of the “Bicentennial of the Victory of Ayacucho”.
The event also included an audiovisual presentation telling the story of the great victory won in the battle as well as the play "Ayacucho Gave You a Name and a Face".
