On June 25, 2025, in Geneva, as part of the first working day of the 64th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia (IDT), an information session was held on the freedom of movement with the involvement of international experts at the initiative of the Abkhazian side.
During the information session participants were provided with international practice regarding the implementation of the right to free movement, with reference to international law and existing international precedents. The Abkhazian side drew attention to the need to find ways to solve the problem of realizing the rights of citizens of the Republic of Abkhazia to freedom of movement using Abkhazian national passports.
As part of the first working day of the 64th round of discussions, a bilateral meeting of the delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia with the co-chairs of the IDT from the UN, the EU and the OSCE was also held.
During the meeting, preliminary consultations were held on the key issues on the agenda of the second working day of the 64th round of the IDT.
The 64th round of the International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasia (IDT) is being held in Geneva with the participation of representatives of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Republic of South Ossetia, the Republic of Georgia, the Russian Federation and the United States under the co-chairmanship of the UN, the OSCE and the EU.
The delegation of the Republic of Abkhazia, headed by Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Odissei Bigvava, includes officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Lasha Avidzba, Alisa Barzaniia, Artur Gaguliia and Madina Zukhba.
