On the meeting with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions

On June 12, 2024 Acting Minister, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Odissei Bigvava held a meeting with the Co-Chairs of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus - European Union Special Representative for the South Caucasus Toivo Klaar, UN Representative Cihan Sultanoğlu and Special Representative of the OSCE Chair-in-Office for the South Caucasus Viorel Moșanu.

From the Abkhazian side, the meeting was attended by the Head of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Lasha Avidzba and the Head of the Department of Middle East and Africa of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Artur Gaguliia.

The main topic of the consultations was the discussion of the agenda of the upcoming 61st round of the Geneva International Discussions.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on issues of security and stability in the region. The parties also paid special attention to humanitarian issues related to access to international education, healthcare, freedom of movement, as well as other pressing issues on the agenda of the upcoming round of the GID.

The meeting participants also focused on the need to resume the work of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM).

During the conversation, a number of other issues of political and humanitarian nature were discussed.

The upcoming, 61st round of the Geneva International Discussions on Security and Stability in the Transcaucasus is scheduled for June 25-26, 2024.
