Foreign Minister of the Republic of Abkhazia Oleg Bartsits congratulated Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Russia Day.

The congratulatory message, in particular, notes:

"Since the proclamation of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of Russia, the Russian Federation has gradually and steadily moved toward strengthening it and today occupies a worthy place among key players on the global stage, consistently upholding the principles of equality and mutual respect between states.

The cohesion of the multinational Russian society and its deep commitment to its historical and cultural heritage create a solid foundation for the country's progressive development and the achievement of its strategic goals.

Relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation are based on genuine mutual trust and long-standing traditions of friendship. I am confident that our interstate cooperation will continue to develop dynamically for the benefit of both peoples."

Oleg Bartsits wished Sergey Lavrov and the entire staff of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs well-being, success in their important government work, and peace.
