The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia sent a note of condolence to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of South Ossetia on the occasion of Remembrance Day for the Victims of the Zara Tragedy.

It is noted, in part:

"The Republic of Abkhazia shares the pain and sorrow of the fraternal people of South Ossetia on this memorable day. This date symbolizes the terrible trials that befell on the civilians of South Ossetia during the war.

The Abkhaz people, who themselves experienced armed aggression from Georgia understand better than anyone the pain of the loss of innocent lives."
