On March 7, 2008, in Sukhum, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Sergei Vasilyevich Bagapsh, signed the Decree "On the Establishment of the Official Representative Office of the Republic of Abkhazia in the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic."
The signing of this document marked a significant milestone in interstate relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic.
The activities of the Official Representative Office are aimed at developing bilateral ties between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie in the fields of education, youth policy, sports, and culture. Within its competencies, the Official Representative Office participates in work carried out under interagency agreements. These agreements cover a wide range of relevant goals and objectives in the economic, humanitarian, and social fields.
The Representative Office is entrusted with performing some of the generally accepted consular functions, such as protecting the rights and interests of the Republic of Abkhazia and its citizens and promoting official information on the foreign and domestic policies of the Republic of Abkhazia.
