Today, on November 26 is the 30th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Abkhazia.
Adopted on November 26, 1994 at a session of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Basic Law of the country played a huge role in strengthening its statehood and sovereignty.
The document enshrined that the Republic of Abkhazia is a sovereign, democratic, legal state, historically established by the right of the people to free self-determination. It proclaimed the separation of the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government; guaranteed human rights and freedoms.
