“Yesterday, September 27, the operation to liberate the capital of the Republic of Abkhazia, Sukhum, from the Georgian occupation forces was completed. It lasted 12 days and led to the complete victory of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia. During the bloody battles, our troops routed the 2nd Army Corps of the enemy, numbering up to 12 thousand people, equipped with a large number of armored vehicles, artillery and aircraft. A large number of captured weapons were captured, incl. tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, artillery mounts and ammunition.
At 13:30 on September 27, a battle broke out near the House of the Government of Abkhazia in Sukhum. After a two-hour firefight, our troops broke into the building and, having destroyed the enemy, raised the victory banner over the city.
The Armed Forces of the Republic of Abkhazia continue their offensive along the entire front. According to the command of the Eastern Front, the enemy is concentrating large forces along the Sukhum-Ochamchira highway, preparing to break through the corridor to the Kodori River. The Armed Forces of the Republic, holding their positions, are inflicting significant blows on the enemy."
