On May 15, a ceremonial meeting was held to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia which is celebrated on May 17.

During the ceremonial meeting, Beslan Bigvava, Vice President of the Republic of Abkhazia read a congratulatory message from Badra Gunba, President of the Republic of Abkhazia and the country's entire leadership:

"On behalf of Badra Zurabovich Gunba, the President of the Republic of Abkhazia and the entire leadership of the country, I congratulate you on the 33rd anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was established by decision of the Supreme Council under the leadership of Vladislav Ardzinba during one of the most difficult periods in our history, the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia. Even then, the country's leadership understood that victory must be achieved not only on the battlefield but also through diplomatic channels.

Since then, Abkhaz diplomats have represented our country with dignity, consistently defending its national interests and strengthening of international ties.

I would especially like to acknowledge the veterans of the diplomatic service who were at the forefront of the establishment of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and laid the foundations of Abkhaz diplomacy.

Today, it is especially gratifying to see many knowledgeable, talented, and promising young people among the Ministry's ranks, who are worthily continuing the work of the older generation of diplomats, combining professionalism, responsibility, and dedication to their country.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs bears a crucial state mission - promoting and expanding of the international recognition of the Republic of Abkhazia and strengthening of our country's authority on the international stage.

I wish you good health, prosperity, peace, new professional successes, and further achievements for the benefit of the Republic of Abkhazia."
