On July 13, 2022, at the Media Center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Inal Ardzinba received the newly arrived Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Abkhazia Mikhail Shurgalin, who delivered copies of his credentials. During the meeting, the parties discussed topical issues of Abkhazian-Russian relations.

Inal Ardzinba expressed hope for active fruitful work. "We have a lot of work to do: national security, strengthening the state sovereignty of Abkhazia, the socio-economic development of our republic," the Minister said.

Inal Ardzinba wished Mikhail Shurgalin success in his new position.

In his turn, Mikhail Shurgalin noted that he was glad to be on Abkhazian land and stressed that the Russian Federation appreciates the clearly expressed position of the Republic of Abkhazia in the context of the aggravated international situation and in recognizing the DPR and LPR. He also noted that the already established allied Russian-Abkhazian relations will continue to serve as a solid foundation for the further development of bilateral cooperation.

The meeting was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
