The next round of International discussions on security and stability in Transcaucasia will take place on June 25 and 26, as told by the Acting Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, head of the delegation Odissei Bigvava to the Sputnik Abkhazia.
“This is the only and most important international format where we can express our point of view. It is important to ensure security in our region,” he emphasized.
Bigvava added that Abkhazia has consistently demonstrated its openness to peaceful dialogue, which is confirmed by its constant participation in the discussions.
The delegation includes five employees of the Abkhazian Foreign Ministry. South Ossetia, Russia, Georgia, the United States, the EU, the UN and the OSCE are also participating in the talks. The discussion is being conducted in two working groups - on security and humanitarian issues.
"The Abkhazian side has been trying over and over to achieve the development and signing of a mutually binding agreement on the non-use of force with regard to Abkhazia and South Ossetia from the side of Georgia. However, one can say, we did not get closer to this," added Odissei Bigvava.
He called Georgia's reluctance and the lack of constructive dialogue on this issue as the reason.
The Acting Deputy Minister of the Republic's Foreign Ministry also emphasized the importance of Russia's support in the Discussions. Thanks to its efforts, stability and security are still being maintained in the region, Bigvava noted.
