The meeting of Irakli Tuzhba, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Ugesh Pradhanang, the project manager of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) was held on December 24, 2018, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia.
The meeting was also attended by Artur Gaguliya, the Head of the Department of interaction with International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and Madina Sulava, the UNDP Program Specialist.
the parties discussed the activities of UNDP in Abkhazia, in particular, they talked on the need for international organizations to provide annual reports on the progress of ongoing projects during the meeting,
Irakli Tuzhba noted that the annual reports of international organizations are largely superficial in nature and do not fully reflect the complex of projects implemented in the territory of Abkhazia. The need to provide more detailed information on the activities of international organizations and financial resources spent during the implementation of existing programs was noted at the Abkhaz Foreign Ministry.
Yugesha Pradhananga, the project manager of the UN Development Program noted that this year, within the framework of the project “HORIZONS - Promoting the Resilience of Abkhazian Communities”, a tuberculosis center, equipped according to the standards of the World Health Organization, was opened in the city of Ochamchira. Soon it is planned to open the same point in the city of Gudauta.
Within the framework of the project “UNPARD - Joint Program of the European Union and UNDP on the Development of Rural Territories”, trainings on the preparation of business plans and social projects were held during the month. From mid-February 2019, a tender will begin.
The meeting also raised the issue of safety for humans and the environment of chemicals used to control insect pests.
