On September 9, 2024 we mark 16 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Russian Federation.

This day has great historical significance for both countries. It marked the desire of the two peoples to develop and strengthen full-fledged cooperation, laid the foundation for a strategic alliance between the Republic of Abkhazia and the, Russian Federation.

Long-standing traditions of friendship and common interests have allowed our countries to build multifaceted interstate relations over the past decade based on the solid foundation of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance of September 17, 2008 New horizons for bilateral cooperation are defined in the Treaty of Alliance and Strategic Partnership signed on November 24, 2014.

Today, we have every reason to look with optimism to the future of Abkhaz-Russian cooperation. We are convinced that further comprehensive development of our relations meets the interests of the peoples of the two countries, the tasks of ensuring regional security and stability.
