On May 29, in Istanbul, with the participation of the ICRC, a meeting of the Coordination Mechanism for the search for persons missing during the Patriotic War of the People of Abkhazia of 1992-1993 was held.

Participants outlined the progress of actions taken to search for and clarify the fate of missing persons, and also discussed current problems associated with the identification process.

The coordination mechanism to clarify the fate of people missing in Abkhazia in 1992-93 was created in 2010 under the auspices of the ICRC and operates in accordance with international humanitarian law.
