On December 1, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Odissei Bigvava met with young Abkhazian gymnast Sofia Bodzhgua.

The athlete recently returned from the international competitions "Heavenly Grace Cup" and "Beijing Top Open 2025," held in Beijing from November 12 to 14, where she placed 26th in the overall standing.

Also present at the meeting were Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmitry Amichba, President of the Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation of Abkhazia Gunda Kvarchiia, the athlete's coach Margarita Kamynina, and the gymnast's mother, Anna Bodzhgua.

Odissei Bigvava conveyed congratulations and words of support to Sofia from Foreign Minister Oleg Bartsits. The Deputy Minister noted that the successes of young Abkhazian athletes make an important contribution to strengthening humanitarian ties and fostering a positive image of Abkhazia abroad.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to support the talented youth of Abkhazia," Odissei Bigvava emphasized.

In his speech, the Deputy Minister noted that representatives of Abkhazian sports and culture often face limited opportunities to compete on the international stage. This is due to Georgia's ongoing attempts to isolate the Republic and the double standards of the Western powers.

Addressing the gymnast, the diplomat emphasized that her successes, achieved through hard work, serve as an excellent example and motivation for the younger generation. Odissei Bigvava expressed confidence that Sofia's perseverance, hard work, and determination will enable her to achieve even greater results.

Special thanks were expressed during the meeting to the President of the International Association "Heavenly Grace", Olympic champion Alina Kabaeva, for her support of the Abkhazian athlete.
