In view of the previous statement by Mr. Mamuka Mdinaradze and the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs' post on social media, we deem it necessary to highlight that attempts by certain representatives of the Georgian political spectrum to interpret international processes based on their own political expectations do not objectively reflect the prevailing regional and international realities.
The Republic of Abkhazia is a sovereign state, formed on the basis of the free and repeatedly confirmed will of the multinational people of Abkhazia. This principle is the cornerstone of Abkhazian statehood and is not subject to external review. The recognition of the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia by a number of states, including the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, represents the exercise of their sovereign right to pursue an independent foreign policy.
The Republic of Abkhazia does not view international recognition as an end in itself. The primary focus is on strengthening statehood institutions, ensuring sustainable socioeconomic development, maintaining security, and expanding diplomatic contacts based on mutual respect and equality. Support from the Russian Federation and other friendly states contributes to the strengthening of stability and development in Abkhazia without substituting for the will of its people.
Statements about a so-called "non-recognition policy" or possible reconsideration of the decisions of states that have recognized Abkhazia's independence have no legal ground and do not contribute to the creation of a constructive atmosphere in the region.
The Republic of Abkhazia consistently adheres to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other states and does not comment on domestic political processes in Georgia. At the same time, we remain prepared to attentively and responsibly respond to any signals indicating a desire for a more pragmatic and realistic approach to regional policy.
The Republic of Abkhazia reaffirms its commitment to the principles of peaceful coexistence, good-neighborliness, and respect for international law. We are open to developing dialogue and cooperation with interested states, including Georgia, subject to the principles of equality, mutual respect, and recognition of objectively established political and legal realities.
