On April 3, 2025, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia between the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia Sergey Shamba and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Nicaragua to the Russian Federation and the Republic of Abkhazia concurrently, Minister-Adviser to the President of the Republic of Nicaragua on Foreign Policy and International Relations Alba Azucena Torres Mejia.

The meeting was also attended by the Head of the Department of Latin America, Asia and the Asia-Pacific Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Madina Zukhba and the Counselor for Education, Tourism and Culture of the Embassy of Nicaragua in Russia Dayans Gisel Melendez Castro.

The meeting included a discussion of key aspects of Abkhazian-Nicaraguan cooperation, in particular, specific steps that could contribute to strengthening relations in various areas, including culture. In addition, current issues on the international agenda were raised.

At the end of the meeting, the parties exchanged souvenirs.

Alba Azucena Torres Mejia arrived in the Republic of Abkhazia to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the elected President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba, which took place on April 2 this year.
