On July 9, 2026, a working meeting was held between Oleg Bartsits, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, and Adik Arshba, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Abkhazia in Rostov-on-Don.

During the meeting, a detailed exchange of views took place on issues related to the Honorary Consul's current activities. Further areas of joint work were outlined.

Particular attention was paid to protecting the rights of Iraklii Bzhinava, a citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia, who has been detained and is being held in custody in the Russian Federation.

Adik Arshba stated that he remains in constant contact with Iraklii Bzhinava's lawyers and family members. Furthermore, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, the Russian side granted consular access to citizen Bzhinava. A date for his visit is currently being agreed upon.

Oleg Bartsits gave relevant instructions to continue work aimed at ensuring the necessary protection of the legal rights and interests of the citizen of the Republic of Abkhazia Iraklii Bzhinava.
