On December 19, 2025, Alexander Vataman, Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic, participated in the online conference "Pridnestrovie - 35 Years in the Global Coordinate System."
The online conference was organized by the Council of Young Diplomats of Pridnestrovie, which operates with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the PMR.The online conference was attended by: Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the PMR Alexander Vataman, Head of the Official Representative Office of the Republic of South Ossetia to Pridnestrovie Vitaly Yankovsky, Head of the Official Representative Office of Pridnestrovie to Abkhazia Garry Kupalba, Head of the Official Representative Office of Pridnestrovie to South Ossetia Alan Pliev, staff of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie and South Ossetia, participants of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of South Ossetia, and the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Pridnestrovie.
Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Abkhazia to the PMR Alexander Vataman stated that "since 2014, due to objective reasons, there has been a decline in full-fledged multilateral interstate cooperation between the Republic of Abkhazia and the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic. Since 2022, the number of working visits and delegation exchanges has decreased to a minimum. Currently, trade and cultural and sports cooperation are virtually nonexistent, and the number of Pridnestrovians visiting Abkhazia privately has seriously declined. However, interaction between the Republics continues, both through online meetings and during working meetings held in Abkhazia or in Russian cities."
The diplomat noted that "support from the top leadership of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie, the heads of departments of the Republics, and the activities of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie have enabled us to use most of the existing opportunities for cooperation between our Republics. Diplomatic missions of the two countries are actively involved in realizing these opportunities and in the overall process of interaction between the Republics."
Under current conditions, the Official Mission of Abkhazia in Pridnestrovie fully implements all tasks assigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia, as well as all functions and responsibilities assigned to the Mission.
One of the most important activities of the Abkhazia Mission in the PMR is holding events and organizing meetings at the Mission's office to mark important state holidays and commemorative dates of the Republic of Abkhazia. This year, some of these events were timed to coincide with the 80th anniversary of the birth of the First President of the Republic of Abkhazia, Vladislav Ardzinba.
"The joint efforts of Pridnestrovian and Abkhazian diplomacy over the past three decades have laid a solid foundation for comprehensive cooperation between our fraternal republics. I am confident that the work of diplomatic missions, including your participation, will further strengthen bilateral ties in various areas of interaction between Abkhazia and Pridnestrovie for the benefit of our friendly peoples," said Alexander Vataman.
The conference included information on the activities of the Councils of Young Diplomats of Abkhazia, Pridnestrovie, and South Ossetia, and reports from participants of the Councils of Young Diplomats.
The meeting resulted in agreements to continue cooperation within the framework of the Councils of Young Diplomats of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Pridnestrovie.
